Camera Obscura (2002)
This image is a photograph of a projection that I managed to create in a hotel room in Granada, Spain, using the principle of the camera obscura. By adjusting both curtains and blinds, I was able to make an aperture small enough to throw this image onto the opposite wall. The image is upside down, and here I have turned the photograph around to show the image the correct way up, which is why a radiator appears in the top right hand corner. We were very fortunate to get a room on the top floor of the pension on the corner of Plaza del Carmen, which overlooks the plaza, Calle Reyes Catolicos, and Granada Cathedral, the tower of which can be seen above the rooftops.
