This painting was originally intended to complement Six Degrees; when I began painting trompe l'oeil pictures, everyone seemed to be most impressed with the painted masking tape, so I decided to take this to the logical conclusion and simply paint masking tape on its own. However, once I'd conceived the idea for this picture, the actual execution felt almost irrelevant, so it took me four years to get around to finishing the picture.
